Biography of Garrett Socol

Producer, Playwright and now Author

Garrett Socol helped launch the network E! Entertainment Television. He created and produced “Talk Soup,” “The Gossip Show,” “Revealed,” and the “101” countdown series.

A graduate of USC’s theatre department, Garrett’s first play, “The Shadow of Greatness,” premiered at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in a 2000 production that starred Richard Chamberlain. In 2003, his second play, “Bicoastal Woman,” enjoyed a successful run at LA’s legendary Pasadena Playhouse.

In 2007, Garrett took a hiatus from television to write fiction. His short stories have been published in more than 40 literary journals including The Barcelona Review, The Dublin Quarterly, 3:AM Magazine, Word Riot, Underground Voices, Drunken Boat, and McSweeney’s. His debut collection of short stories GATHERED HERE TOGETHER was published in December 2011 by Ampersand Books. His comic novel FAME & MADNESS IN AMERICA was published by Casperian Books in December 2011. His novel TOOTH DECAY, a quirky tale of obsessive love and murder in a small town was published by Folded Word Press in November 2015. He recommends brushing and flossing daily.

Garrett has appeared on CNN, Fox News and EXTRA to promote his various projects.
